Serological tests for equine protozoal myeloencephalitis (EPM) and Lyme disease are probably the most commonly submitted tests for horses with neurologic disease, gait deficits, or poor performance. Whether these ancillary tests are helpful or misleading depends on the veterinarian’s ability to interpret results accurately, with consideration of the specifics of the case.
